NEW ZEALAND KEURING APRIL 2025
First of all, well done to all our participants and their beautiful horses. WOW what a big couple of days have been had here at the bottom of the world for the Friesian Horse Society. Everyone should be so proud of their horses, but also themselves. Keuring prep is hard work and requires a lot of dedication to get these horses looking the best they can be.
We had 2 keurings this year, one in Kaukapakapa, North Auckland and one in Palmerston North. It was lovely to welcome the judges and runners at the Auckland keuring with the Kapa Haka group from Kaukapakapa school welcoming them in with a traditional Maori whaikorero (speech) and waiata (songs). In return our Dutch Honorary Consul Sake Hitman spoke on behalf of the judges, runners, Friesian Horse Society members and everyone else that were visitors there on the day. Judge Sabien Zwaga then also spoke thanking the Kapa Haka group for a wonderful greeting and opening to the keuring.
Our Keuring day in Auckland was welcomed with sunny warm weather and the day ran in a relaxed and smooth manner. Our keuring day in Palmerston North was welcomed with moody weather, but the worst held off till the keuring was over. The day also ran in a relaxed and smooth manner, it was also the keuring where the only IBop was done and it was lovely to see Trynke settle into the test so well in such windy conditions.
