Update from KFPS: Avoid a Risk Mating, Always!

An important update from the KFPS on avoiding a risk mating. Please take the time to read this to be aware of the new decision made by the KFPS member council.

Number one in breeding with Friesian horses is to breed a healthy horse. That starts with avoiding a risk mating, a mating with two carriers of dwarfism or hydrocephaly. As an owner it’s important to know the status of your mare. If she is a carrier, choose a free stallion, always.

The KFPS member council has decided that owners who do a risk mating with their mare (combining a carrier mare with a carrier stallion) first receive a warning letter, a second time a fine of 2000 euros follows.
